Salvia - The Legal Marijuana
Salvia, source of the most potent naturally occurring hallucinogenic drug known to man, has escaped the effect of major legislation. Until now that is. A bill introduced by Assemblyman Anthony Adams which would make the sale of the drug to minors a misdemeanor is currently in the state Senate. Under the bill the crime would be punishable by up to six months in jail and up to $1,000 in fines on the perpetrator.
Salvia Divinorum is a member of the herb family and is native to Mexico. Currently it is legal in most states and is widely available across the Internet and even in specialist shops.
Smoking the potentiated plant (that is, a dose of the concentrated form of Salvia, extracted from the plant) it can induce a dissociated state, outer body experiences and a feeling of merging with inanimate objects like furniture or even the floor. The long term effects of Salvia are not known.
