Until very recently the Phuket nightlife was a little tame offered very little choice to the locals or travelers alike. The dominating establishment was the standard Thai club with a smattering of Western influences. Recently the islands nightlife entrepreneurs have got their act together and the Phuket nightlife has quickly improved.

The most common spot in the Phuket nightlife is the Thai-style clubs where friends gather to share a bottle of some spirit or other and dance the night away. This is fairly authentic Thai entertainment and is what the Phuket nightlife is all about, really.

At the other end of the scale are impressive nightclubs for hardcore clubbers from home and abroad. These clubs are focused on the music you hear (which may range from house to breaks to drum and bass to techno) rather than on getting as many people through the door to pay the cover fee. It is fair to say that this style of clubbing is yet to catch on massively with the locals and when superstar DJs were brought in to pep up the Phuket nightlife, these ’super clubs’ stayed ominously quiet.

All in all though the Phuket nightlife is thriving and lively; there is definitely no dearth of places to go and enjoy yourself until the early hours.
