P2P filesharing under attack on campus
P2P filesharing happens. There is no way around that truth. Whether the RIAA like it or not β and indeed they seem like they’re set in for the fight β P2P filesharing is endemic and it’s here to stay.
The sport of P2P filesharing is particularly popular in universities and colleges, where students with little or no spare cash have similar tastes in music, movies and games. The result is inevitable, and programs like Ares get used frequently; who can really blame the students when the alternative is, wait for it⦠ruckus. What a ruckus this is causing!
This is like offering a skipping rope instead of a PS3 with the latest games. While I’m sure the skipping rope, like Ruckus, is very good at what it was intended for, it can’t really replace the latest technology. Anyone who thinks it can is misguided or doesn’t believe it themselves. We suspect the latter β the institutions are pandering to the whims of the RIAA and its cronies when it comes to the fear of their charges P2P filesharing.
