O2 and Vodafone free Music Downloads

Take a look at this list of names: Sony BMG, Nokia, O2, 24-7 Entertainment, Vodafone, Napster and We7. The common thread between them all? They’re all leading the charge when it come to providing unlimited music downloads to eager users.

Even Sony BMG – long time opponent of anything even remotely smelling of free music and never mind something like music downloads– is getting involved.

Napster is facing somewhat of a Phoenix-like rise from the ashes as it sits in with giant telephony providers 02 and Vodafone, with the promise that Napster will provide music downloads to phone purchasers.

This surge forward comes as Nokia announces its partnership with, yep, Sony BMG to provide its entire back catalogue to Nokia’s customers as unlimited music downloads. Exciting? Hell yes. Maybe this is the sign that big-business is listening to its customers and finding another way to make money rather than selling extortionately-priced CDs in shops.
