Is Salvia The Next Legal Drug?

Taking drugs is frowned upon by many cultures. In others it is embraced wholeheartedly and even encouraged. Take the Mazatec Shamans of Mexico who used Salvia Divinorum to help reach their (and others’) spiritual goals. This idea of using drugs to help on a spiritual quest is not new, not novel, and will continue to be practiced whatever hallucinogenic we are discussing.

Salvia Divinorum induces a number of experiences, some strange, some beneficial. Not only does the hallucinogen provide a feeling of disembodiment, perceived time travel and other psychedelic effects, scientific research has identified an increase in insight, self-confidence and an improvement in mood. Calmness and peacefulness also prevails.

Salvia leaves can be chewed but the most potent way to reap the benefits of the active hallucinogenic ingredient is in the smoking of the Salvia leaves or of taking the concentrated form of the plant. Fortunately online suppliers (of which there are many) sell the plant in both forms.
