Ares Destiny is a slick looking piece of software with a few surprises.

First surprise: Ares Destiny is free. This is good, and everyone likes free. The software is based on the Ares 3.0 platform and you can download it straight from the website.

The download process really is painless and the installation runs smoothly and quickly. You’ll be downloading your favorite songs off other Ares Destiny users from all over the world in no time at all. Sounds good? Well so far it is.

The program is a little slow at times and the user interface is, frankly, completely uninspired. But hey if you’re looking for beautiful music you might not be too worried about how the lady looks in the face department.

To continue the lady analogy further, this one has a virus. Spyware to be exact. Ares Destiny quietly downloads the Dealio ad serving software onto your machine. Dealio is billed as a price comparison toolbar but in reality it pops up adverts when you least want to see them. What is worse is that this is fairly impossible to remove from your computer. Argh!

What turned out to be free software just cost you in many more ways. It is advised that you stay away from this if at all possible. Good software, free software, bad news.
