Hallelujah! Praise the Lord! I’ve solved my the age old problem of Ares not connecting on my computer. Thank goodness for that. The solution to this little Ares connecting issue? Change versions from Ares Galaxy to Ares Ultimate (though I tried Ares Vista and that seemed to work just as well).

I was a little reluctant initially to change from the old Ares Galaxy workhorse as I’d used it for so long. I’m really glad I did make the jump and, actually, I wish I’d done it a long time ago. Everything seems to work a lot better in these newer versions and, thankfully, there are no issues with Ares not connecting! While Ares Galaxy was the big name in filesharing software it’s clear that its time has come and gone again. There’s nothing fundamentally wrong with it (expect this Ares connecting problem), but it’s tired, old software, especially when you compare it to the newer versions.

This reluctance to solve problems is indicative of the approach to the customer service that Ares Galaxy took; if a similar problem were discovered in Ares Vista or Ares Ultimate then I’m pretty sure it would be sorted a soon as possible. A much better approach all around, I’m sure you’ll agree.
